Our Single Block wines represent the best of what we do. We keep a close eye on fruit in the different blocks of the vineyard to find the most concentrated and balanced flavours. These wines are more structured and intense and great to keep in the cellar for special occasions.
2017 Home Block Chardonnay A Chardonnay for Chardy lovers. More oak, more Malo, more of everything really. Complex, layered and exceptional citrussy length.
2016 Cliff Block Pinot Noir From vines grown at the edge of the escarpment in shallow top soil, yielding smaller bunches of smaller berries. More whole-bunch fermentation, and more new oak. A darker and more savoury expression of Pinot Noir with texture and earthy complexity.
2016 River Block Shiraz The dark horse that always impresses. 100 day post-ferment extended maceration, and 50 % new oak. Ripe blue and black berry fruit and soft mouth-filling tannins. Cool-climate shiraz at its most opulent.

MAGNUM – 2017 Myrtle Point Pinot Noir – 1.5L
Small batch winemaking combining traditional methods with some use of wild yeasts and whole bunch ferments. French oak maturation. Bright cherry and plum fruit layered with savoury, earthy elements. Bottled unfiltered. 100% Estate grown, made and bottled.
“Hand-picked, a portion (30% of the total wine) had 30% whole bunches included, open-fermented, hand-plunged, pressed to French oak (15% new). Light colour, but no want of flavour or drive. Satsuma plum and red cherry fruit threaded with tendrils of spicy, savoury palate and tannins.” 94 Points – 2020 Halliday Wine Companion

Our 2017 Home Block Chardonnay is a wine of subtle intensity and power, made from a small parcel of fruit taken from the ‘Home Block’ of Chardonnay within the Myrtle Point vineyard. The wine reflects the intensity of fruit character that the Myrtle Point Vineyard can produce. An intense aroma of melon and peach with a complex almond character. On the palate, initial flavours of melon and peach develop into a creamy, textured wine with nutty tones and excellent acid length.
“Only 222 dozen bottles made despite the perfect growing season, the limitation being the small parcel from within the Home Block. Pressed straight to oak (20% new) for fermentation and 11 months maturation. The fruit aromas and flavours span white peach, grapefruit and melon, the oak no more than a textural play”. 95 Points – 2021 Halliday Wine Companion
“Highly varietal and highly delicious. Pear, apple and steely stonefruit characters burst onto the palate and swing persistently through the finish. Juicy flavour aplenty, and length to impress. 93 Points, Campbell Mattinson, The Wine Front 2019.

Aromatic with violets, cherry and plum, this wine has a full and textured palate with superb varietal fruit character and integration even at a young age. An exceptional example of Gippsland Pinot Noir. The Cliff Block is planted on a limestone bluff high above the Mitchell River at the southern end of the Myrtle Point Vineyard. The exposed site is naturally low yielding and consistently produces Pinot Noir with great intensity and complexity.

A beast of a Pinot Noir. Fighting against everything 2020 threw at us, here is a Pinot Noir against the odds.
The premise for the 2020 “Renegade” was to attempt to make a wine from the bushfire affected grapes of the 2020 vintage. While the smoke affect was fairly minimal, we aimed to use some winemaking creativity and daring to make a delicious, wild, and early drinking wine that we thought would give a sincere one fingered salute to the year most of us would like to forget! Using whole bunch, some wild yeasts and a generous helping of new French oak, we have created a wild wine from an undoubtedly wild year!

A true example of cool-climate shiraz: a mellow, aromatic and elegant wine, fine tannins and dark berry fruit.
Small batch open ferments, hand plunged. Whole berries fermented to express cool climate fruit character. 10 month maturation in fine-grained French oak.
““Peppery, mid-weight shiraz offering a sweet core of black cherried fruit before toast and clove characters sweep in. Much going on in the glass here; there are peppery, meaty, woodsy spice notes aplenty” 93 Points – 2021 James Halliday Wine Companion

Classic Gippsland Pinot Noir – Generous bright cherry and plum fruit balanced with the more savoury earthy and spicy notes. Clear varietal and regional character, bright fruit with complexity and texture.
“Sturdy, almost beefy, with macerated cherry and woodsy spice characters pushing through. It’s a somewhat backward, earthen, more-bass-than-treble wine with sweet, toasty, malty characters as highlights and good momentum through the finish. Again you’d bet that it will age well”. 94 Points. Halliday Wine Companion 2021.

The Chameleon came about with a suggestion from our lovely French cellar hands who had had some experience producing a “blanc de noir” style wine in their homeland. As lovers of red Pinot Noir, we thought why not make a white Pinot Noir? And so we did. It’s a rich & textured wine that’s a bit hard to put your finger on – very much a chameleon.
