MAGNUM – 2017 Myrtle Point Pinot Noir – 1.5L
Small batch winemaking combining traditional methods with some use of wild yeasts and whole bunch ferments. French oak maturation. Bright cherry and plum fruit layered with savoury, earthy elements. Bottled unfiltered. 100% Estate grown, made and bottled.
“Hand-picked, a portion (30% of the total wine) had 30% whole bunches included, open-fermented, hand-plunged, pressed to French oak (15% new). Light colour, but no want of flavour or drive. Satsuma plum and red cherry fruit threaded with tendrils of spicy, savoury palate and tannins.” 94 Points – 2020 Halliday Wine Companion

Aromatic with violets, cherry and plum, this wine has a full and textured palate with superb varietal fruit character and integration even at a young age. An exceptional example of Gippsland Pinot Noir. The Cliff Block is planted on a limestone bluff high above the Mitchell River at the southern end of the Myrtle Point Vineyard. The exposed site is naturally low yielding and consistently produces Pinot Noir with great intensity and complexity.

A beast of a Pinot Noir. Fighting against everything 2020 threw at us, here is a Pinot Noir against the odds.
The premise for the 2020 “Renegade” was to attempt to make a wine from the bushfire affected grapes of the 2020 vintage. While the smoke affect was fairly minimal, we aimed to use some winemaking creativity and daring to make a delicious, wild, and early drinking wine that we thought would give a sincere one fingered salute to the year most of us would like to forget! Using whole bunch, some wild yeasts and a generous helping of new French oak, we have created a wild wine from an undoubtedly wild year!

Classic Gippsland Pinot Noir – Generous bright cherry and plum fruit balanced with the more savoury earthy and spicy notes. Clear varietal and regional character, bright fruit with complexity and texture.
“Sturdy, almost beefy, with macerated cherry and woodsy spice characters pushing through. It’s a somewhat backward, earthen, more-bass-than-treble wine with sweet, toasty, malty characters as highlights and good momentum through the finish. Again you’d bet that it will age well”. 94 Points. Halliday Wine Companion 2021.
