Myrtle Point Vineyard is perched on a limestone cliff above the Mitchell River valley, near Bairnsdale, in the Gippsland Lakes district. |
|
Plantings of Pinot Noir, Shiraz, Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, totalling approximately seventy-five acres, were completed between 1995 and 1997.
Most of the fruit is sold to other wineries, but small parcels of selected varieties are retained each year for processing under our own label.

Footnote:
Lightfoot & Sons Pty. Ltd.’s grape growing and wine making activities are carried on exclusively in the Gippsland Lakes District of Victoria. Other than the coincidental sharing of the name “Lightfoot”, it is not commercially connected with “Hastwell and Lightfoot” in McLaren Vale, South Australia. Whether there is any ancestoral connection is not known.
( The first Lightfoot to arrive in Australia, Samuel Lightfoot, did so in January, 1788, and may not have had much say in the matter!)
